Creating the scraPPagetm
Here's the process of using academic scrapbooking:
S = Sort (your photos and select the best ones from your research)
C = Categorize (one photo topic per scraPPage and stick with what you've researched)
R = Re-arrange the photos into 3's (the triangle) or the Z pattern
A = Attention to activity and attitude (in the photos and use those photos that relate directly to your research)
PP = Presentation Package (layout and design- be sure to address what has been researched for your topic)
A = Author (don't forget to journal and title paying close attention to your research)
G = Garnish (your page with embellishments that compliment your researched topic)
E = Enough (know when to quit!)
| Teacher Note: Introduce this acronym to your students to provide them with guidance on how to develop an academic scrapbooking page called a scraPPage. I use this acronym with the rubric so that I have gradable components that students recognize. However, the crux of the rubric is the curriculum. What was your lesson and what would you use in a rubric for any other gradable project to measure students' progress with the concepts? You want to do the same for the scraPPage. As students continue to scrap, they will develop their own style which will affect their presentation package. Encourage students to borrow art methods and interior design techniques to polish your scraPPagetm. The scraPPage will be polished as part of the students' presentation package which encompasses the lesson's concepts. It is the presentation package where students will earn the academic points: you are not grading their individual style and you must train yourself to look for the accuracy of the concepts. |
